We are open Wednesday to Sunday from 12pm to 9pm, and seven days a week during high season. History: Established in 2000 by local legends Thaine and Noelle Theolopilos, The Goat Shed is rustic and tranquil. Surrounded by old sneeze-wood poles, Milkwood and Nygenya trees, it offers an open, outdoor setting beneath a steel and canvas roof. Location: The Goat Shed is less than 2 km from the Kenton-on-Sea crossroads, on the Woodlands Cottages & Camping property. Secure parking is available behind electronic front gates, with camera protection in the main area. From the parking area, a paved and lit 50 m walkway leads you to the restaurant. Facilities: A jungle gym and trampoline on the lawn help keep the kids entertained, and guests also have access to the swimming pool. During the peak summer season, there is also a jumping castle. The licensed bar is situated on one side of the venue, with a large kitchen and cold room on the opposite side. The seating area has canvas roll-up curtains that open onto a 20 x 50 m terrace overlooking the Bushman’s River mouth. The venue is surrounded by Eastern Cape bush, riverine flora and fauna, with plenty of birdlife. On chilly days, the central fire is lit to keep things cosy. The Goat Shed can accommodate up to 80 seated guests. Most of the catering equipment runs on gas, while a solar, battery and inverter system keeps things running during load shedding. We ate here one night during our stay. Food and service was excellent, we had grilled fish and chips. Very relaxed atmosphere, lovely big fire, laid back music, groups of families and people from the village all enjoying themselves. Prices are reasonable and, although we haven't been here before, the owner told us that he has expanded the menu and is working towards supplying all the fresh vegetables from their own gardens and aquaponic system.

A no-nonsense watering hole. Under new management since November 2021. Have been there a couple of times - at lunch and dinner. Both food and atmosphere were good however there are some room for improvements, but guests were enjoying themselves. Currently (March 2022) they are doing 20% off everything on Wednesdays and Thursdays. A good alternative to eating in town. Give it a try and support a new and local business!
