This Lodge looked amazing when we booked. It is remote, quite wild and the beach is impressive. The road to get there should not be undertaken lightly, miles of poor dirt track which takes its toll on your vehicle. The rooms, while functional are far from luxurious (and ours came with a nesting swallow in the bathroom, which then proceeded to fly around and leave a stream of poo as it was distressed to find it was sharing with us) and are probably due an upgrade. We had booked a horse ride for our family (6 months prior) for our afternoon arrival but were bumped off in favour of a large group of Germans, who were clearly spending more than our little family. An alternative time was offered which ultimately didn't suit us as we had to head off early the next day. We handed in some laundry when we arrived which was ready a few short hours later, but sadly about 6 of the items (t shirts, pants & socks, all darks) were somehow dyed during the process. By way of apology we were offered our washing for free (which came nowhere near the replacement cost of 1 item) and a bottle of wine (a 7 year old merlot, probably from a previous list). In short, not a perfect stay, and these will happen from time to time, but the approach to make things right was a bit off - and didn't make us feel 'loved ' like in most of the other places we stayed in SA. Great spot, probably one to stay more than 1 night in (though you're then fully reliant on their (mostly good, if not exciting) food for several meals in a row), but the service would need to be better to cover up some it's shortcomings.

Gorgeous rolling landscapes and a private beach where one can take a leisurely horseride on any of the hotel horses. Also great for nature watchers as there are a number of game lodges in the vicinity. The hotel itself is quaint and picturesque with beautifully appointed rooms that are tailored to the individual with big beds and en suite bathrooms with shower and bath available. The restaurant is pretty and the food is amazing. Would highly recommend to the discerning traveller with an eye for the unusual.

This place has a beautiful ocean view, on the one side as well as lush green nature on the other. We stayed in the Suite accommodation, that gives you that extra peaceful privacy. The staff did a very good job on keeping the place as neat as a pin! The place offers many activities, such as horse riding, riding on the dunes or nature trails, as well as other activities externally such as the dairy farm tour. Our highlight here was the exquisite food, friendly conversations with the OBL team, and amazing scenery of their tame but free roaming horses! Keep up the good work! Excited to see you guys again😍

My husband and I had the most AMAZING experience at Oyster Bay Lodge! Debbie was so welcoming and extremely helpful!! Leo was our guide for our horse ride, he was very kind and experienced. The horses were extremely well taken care of. I highly recommend this tranquil place! Can’t wait to come back!! Thank you Oyster Bay team for making our visit so special!
