Welgelegen Cherry Estate is situated in the Eastern Free State, 40 km from Clarens, lying in the picturesque Witteberg mountains and overlooking the Maluti mountains.

Welgelegen is a working cherry and apple farm and the perfect place for an unforgettable experience. Welgelegen facilities are purpose-built for weddings and events. The reception hall, bar, kitchen and bathrooms are designed as an integrated facility. A view overlooking the dam with the Maluti and Witteberg Mountains in the background sets the tone for an unforgettable weekend with fantastic photo opportunities. At Welgelegen we will ensure that your dream day will be an unforgettable and relaxed experience. The Venue is yours for the entire weekend. Welgelegen provides a relaxed farm and country atmosphere on a working cherry and apple farm. ## Wedding Venue A purpose event facility that can seat 250 people with a spacious dance floor. The facilities are wheelchair friendly. A modern kitchen ensures delicious food and a menu with various choices. All the food are freshly prepared on the site and during the wedding. ## The Chapel The Sandstone Chapel can seat 150 guests inside the chapel, and another 50 outside on the covered veranda. ## Outside weddings are very popular and popular sites are At the dam with the beautiful sandstone mountains as background. On the deck on the dam, and the guests will have a breath-taking view of the Maluti mountains In the Cherry Orchards with beautiful white blossoms or ripe cherries or with the lovely autumn orange and brown colours. ## Private Bridal and Groom Suite The luxurious onsite Bridal Suite is intimate and private, positioned at the foot of the mountains. The perfect setting for the bride to get ready to be transformed into a princess for her dream day. The Bridal Suite is perfect for that special evening. The luxurious Groomsman House is perfect for the groom and his groomsman. It is facing the Witteberg mountains and overlooking the dam. This allows them to bond, share stories, and get ready for the ceremony without feeling rushed or stressed. This tranquil staging area sets the mood and tempo for the wedding. ## Accommodation Accommodation for 84 guests are available on the farm and 80 guests having private bathrooms

We attended a wedding at Welgelegen Cherry Estate, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The setting is straight out of a postcard — surrounded by serene water, lush greenery, and majestic mountain views that make every photo look like a professional shoot. The ceremony by the lake was beautifully intimate, framed with colorful ribbons dancing in the breeze, and the reception setup under the string lights created the perfect blend of rustic charm and elegance. The attention to detail in everything — from the flower arrangements to the cozy firepit area — made the whole day feel warm, personal, and thoughtfully designed. The staff were friendly, professional, and made everything flow effortlessly. Even as the night carried on with laughter and dancing under the stars, the estate maintained its calm, scenic magic. Amazing views. Well kept venue. Unfortunately I had to attend a wedding at the end of a very rainy week. There is a dirt road about 8km long so it was very muddy, especially the venue itself, and I know theres not much you could do about it, but NOTHING was done about it. Theres NO signal on the venue, and no wifi was offered. Found the password from another guest, who was told not to give it out. The bar staff were friendly and helpfull. Management not so much. Sunday after the wedding they couldn't make it more clear that they want us gone. Just little help and not a lot of hospitality in general. Feels unorganisedness and not purposeful. Beautiful place though, 100% recommended for the views.

We had a wonderful wedding at Welgelegen Cherry Estate. Mary-Anne went out of her way from Friday evening to Sunday to accommodate everyone and ensure everything ran smoothly. The food was incredible, and the Saturday food baskets were generous. The venue was beautifully set up and very well maintained. The farm and accommodation are neat and comfortable, making it perfect for a weekend wedding. The mountains and surrounding scenery create a peaceful atmosphere with stunning photo opportunities. We had a lovely weekend with family and friends and would definitely recommend this venue to any couple looking for a dream wedding.

The most beautiful wedding estate I've ever been to. Lake and dam veiws just magnificent. Accommodation neat tasefull and spotlessly clean. Host and staff professional and always ready to chat and explain the working farms many offerings. Catering is al done by themselves. Lamb on the spit and sides yamee.. Snacks and steaks all done just right. Walking trails , pick your own apples and fly fishing to keep you busy. Bar prices that's not ripping you off. All a highly recommended venue.
