It is hard to describe just how special Rondefontein Guest Farm is. We booked it at the last-minute as a stopover between Cape Town and Joburg, and certainly did not expect it to be not only a stopover, but an extraordinary destination. The setting: a real and authentic working farm near Springfontein The rooms: We stayed in the Dormer unit which overlooks the lush garden. The room is spacious, with very interesting and quirky decor. It's warm and inviting and makes one feel at home. I loved the beautiful bedlinen, and the general attention to detail - nothing is generic. The bathroom: again, very beautifully decorated, and spacious. Bath sheets are provided, which I liked. Plenty of space at the basin to put things down (so often overlooked!) General: the carafe with sherry was very welcome and a nice touch. The garden, with its little nooks and pathways is therapy after a long drive. The pretty chickens added to the experience. There's a lookout point which I only noticed on the way out - will definitely explore it next time. Meals: Dinner and breakfast meals are available on request. I highly recommend arriving hungry: the mutton deserves 7 stars, and is served with super creamy mash and crisp veggies. The breakfast padkos parcels were delicious too. The hosts: One cannot ask for better. From the morning message for safe travelling, to reception and service, to departure - simply exceptional. I can recommend Rondefontein Guest Farm without reservation.

I loved the serenity of the place. The host is very welcoming and pleasant. The food is the best, nothing like I've had in restaurants and any hotel. I wish I could have stayed for longer but will definitely come back.

Rondefontein Guest Farm, as managed by the owner, Louis and his wife, have established a real farm experience/cum. guesthouse feeling. If you like the sound of sheep and chickens making their presence known - and even to welcome you when arriving( in daytime! ), this is the place to stay. It is a comfortable stay - over between Cape Town, P.E. and Pretoria/ Jhb. Louis is a chef par excellance and how often do you see owners/ husband and wife working/ plucking in the vegetable garden early in the morning?

What a lovely place to stay on my travels. Louis is such a nice person always welcoming and remembers his frequent guests. The food is to die for and prepared fresh and the coffee is delicious
