Great place Luxury venue Weddings and party's In the cuntry side Chapple and hall

Went there for our very first Race for Hope so we didn't made use of the venue facility but the grounds were clean and neat and the staff very friendly...

Completely misleading. As a party of four adults we stayed in two of the "additional 6 self-catering en-suite units on site". These words are taken directly from the Poortjie Guesthouse website. The rooms are beautifully appointed, but they are NOT self-catering. We brought all our food with us, only to be confronted by rooms that had a small fridge in them and a kettle. By no stretch of the imagination could these rooms be called self-catering. This left us in a spot, because there are no fast-food outlets or restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The website also states that there is 24 hour reception. Not once, from Friday evening, when we arrived, until Sunday morning when we checked out did we see the owner, or a receptionist. The property on which the 6 sleeper guesthouse and the 6 other rooms are located, is not marked at all, so we were not even sure we were in the right place when we arrived there. To add insult to injury, on the Saturday my daughter and son-in-law, who were getting ready to go to a wedding at another venue, had a shower. The shower caused their room, our room and one of the other rooms to flood! Credit must be given to the two plumbers and the cleaning lady who arrived promptly and cleared the blockage and cleaned up the rooms. All in all, I would not stay at Poortjie again and I would not recommend it to anyone else, unless they were on a starvation diet!

Beautiful venue. The food was amazing! And the staff are extremely well trained and polite. Can recommend this venue to anyone wanting to host a classy event.
