Disappointing experience with almost all our specific requests for the day ignored by staff. Practically no small details were remembered or carried out, from chapel arrangements to the colour of tablecloths. Function co-ordinators were rude to the bridal party and largely absent on the day. It took forty minutes for staff to assist the bride with the steamer, and then the wedding party platters ran late. Even though these issues had already pushed the timeline back, the staff still rushed and pressured the bride into the carriage while she was in the middle of last minute preparations, and there were no other weddings that day and nowhere else for the carriage to be. Staff were unhelpful and the bridal party ended up doing everything on the day themselves, literally only having ten minutes to change before walking down the aisle as they were the only ones making sure everything was done correctly. Wheelchair accommodations were not handled properly despite repeated simple explanations and requests from the wedding party regarding seating and space being made available for the wheelchair. Staff were unable to read and follow a simple seating plan, and lost guest names tag which were later found on the floor. The bridal party had to take over and do it correctly. Our cake was placed directly under a heater, causing it to melt and the cake cutting had to be moved up because staff were unwilling to accommodate and provide a fridge despite this issue resulting directly from a failure on their part. In fact, no fridges are provided for cakes at all so good luck if you are planning a wedding in summer as they are unwilling to accommodate this in the slightest. No one greeted the groom upon arrival or assisted grooms party to their suite. No vendors were properly greeted either or shown where to go, leaving them lost and confused. The timeline we confirmed with staff at our final appointment was completely disregarded and staff continuously bothered the bride and groom with incorrect scheduling. Despite the venue requesting a designated bridesmaid for handling any problems on the day, the bride and groom were still personally bothered by staff regarding small issues that caused unnecessary stress. The venue attempted to charge us for a ‘missing key’ due to a severe lack of communication between staff members. No apology was issued when we provided proof that the key had in fact been returned. Despite it being winter, there were no extra blankets in the guesthouse. Only standard summer duvets and guests were too cold to sleep the entire night. Then they were rudely asked to leave at 9am despite a 10am checkout time. If you do end up choosing this venue for your own wedding, expect them to ignore every request they promise will be attended to. Even the colour of your tablecloths, they will not be able to get correct. The only redeeming quality will be the food

Editing to one star due to the most appalling and disgusting post-event correspondence I have ever been subjected to. Carl has effectively refused to address a single complaint from the below, due to miscommunication from the venue regarding their stance on same-sex weddings. I am pleased to announce, despite the venue making no attempt to inform the public themselves, that they do indeed allow Queer couples to get married at Oakfield. You will not find this information available anywhere online, but they will expect you to know this by scrolling on their Facebook page down to a post from 2023. If you experience any problems, severe disrespect and extremely dismissive attitudes from all the staff at this venue - do not be surprised. It seems the staff take after the owner, and none of your issues will be addressed. **** This review serves to warn future brides about my experience at Oakfield Farm. While the venue itself is beautiful, the staff conduct and lack of professionalism left us deeply disappointed. The reassurances we received during our final appointment were completely at odds with the reality of our wedding day. Our ceremony was disrupted when coordinators pressured my bridesmaids to enter early, even opening the chapel doors against their objections, which caused the aisle song to play too soon. A staff member then loudly struggled with closing side doors during the officiant’s opening words, pulling everyone’s attention away from the altar. Requests we had confirmed in advance (such as removing religious symbols, excess chairs, and widening the aisle) were ignored, and when my bridesmaids asked about it, they were met with rudeness. The overall attitude from the staff made it feel like our wedding was treated as an inconvenience. A large oversight was that our gluten intolerant guest, for whom we paid extra, was served regular wraps and the same main course as everyone else. She became ill afterward, and I later saw other reviews reporting similar dietary issues. It is a shame the venue has not addressed these dietary failures yet will happily continue taking extra money for services they know they do not provide. No fridge is provided for wedding cakes, and staff placed ours directly under a heater, causing it to melt. We had requested a black tablecloth for the cake table, but like many other requests staff ignored this and used white instead. Vendors were left lost and unsupported, and our chapel flowers had to be moved by guests because staff never helped as promised. During speeches, a staff member was loudly watching TikToks on their phone, disturbing guests until a bridesmaid intervened. Later, when the bridal suite items weren’t moved to the guesthouse as promised, my bridal party had to do it themselves during dinner and then were rudely asked “are you done yet?”. Staff even tried to charge us for a “missing key” that had already been returned. The guesthouse lacked any extra blankets in winter, leaving our wedding party cold and uncomfortable. Guests were pushed to vacate early despite the stated checkout time, and the honeymoon suite bath was dirty and full of leaves. Décor was left half packed and carelessly thrown into boxes, with all the LED lights left on overnight, unnecessarily discharging the batteries. The most painful moment was being rushed out of the bridal suite for the horse and carriage. Staff caused immense stress the second our 15 minute slot began, hurrying us along even though there was no other wedding that day. I never even had the chance to look at myself in the mirror before walking down the aisle. These repeated failures and dismissive treatment ruined what should have been a calm, romantic day. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Oakfield Farm to any future bride.
