This one really hurt. As a teenager, I always dreamed of eating here, so I was so excited to finally choose it for our date night. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to what I'd imagined. We came because of the seafood platter advertised on the Montecasino website, but the online price was incorrect. In the restaurant it was R950. We decided to order it anyway, expecting something amazing, but it just wasn't worth the price. My husband left feeling annoyed, and I was heartbroken because it was my turn to plan date night!! My mash was creamy and buttery, and the vegetables with mushroom sauce were delicious. Sadly, the chicken was dry, chewy, and rubbery. I do want to thank the chef, who came to our table, apologised, explained there had been issues with his chicken supplier, and even offered us dessert. The service was friendly throughout. One small suggestion: the stairs leading up from the wine cellar could use a good clean. I really wanted this to be a memorable experience for all the right reasons. Instead, it left us disappointed.

My friend and i had a lovely experience during our visit. We initially weren’t aware that specific seating needs to be requested when making a reservation, and unfortunately we were placed in a spot that wasn’t ideal for us. The staff were very helpful and accommodating and kindly assisted us in changing to a more comfortable table, which we really appreciated. A special mention to Lucky, who we met after being moved. He truly made us feel at home and took the time to thoroughly explain the drinks menu, helping us choose options that suited us well. He was warm, bubbly, welcoming, and very considerate, especially with my friend’s allergies, making sure we felt comfortable and taken care of throughout our time there. Overall, the service was excellent and the atmosphere very warm and accommodating. We would definitely return again. Thank you, Lucky your service was outstanding and greatly appreciated.

Had a really great experience at Verdicchio. We were seated in the cellar area, and the interior was absolutely stunning. The warm lighting, rustic brick, and overall atmosphere made it feel intimate and special right from the start. We went during Restaurant Week and the menu had a great variety. The starters were well executed, especially the salmon tartare, which was fresh and beautifully presented. The saffron and wild mushroom risotto was a standout main, rich, creamy, and full of flavour without being too heavy. Dessert was lovely. The baklava baked cheesecake was unique and definitely worth trying. Service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing, and the pacing between courses was spot on. Pricing was very reasonable for the quality of food and overall experience, which made it even better. Would definitely come back, especially for a special evening out.

We went in for dinner on Sunday. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. I would highly recommend sitting down stairs in the wine cellar which has a cozy atmosphere and you feel like you are out of the general casino area. For starters I had the baked chicken lollipop. This was flavourful and presented really well. We also received a welcome drink start and they were able to provide us with a non alcoholic variant. For the main, I had the pantry fried sea bass. The fish had a few bones which I was not expecting and personally did not enjoy. For dessert I had the double chocolate parfait. It was mediocre for me. I would return to try other meals.
