⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My son and I spent three wonderful nights in the Owl Cabin at Dargle Forest Lodge, and it was an unforgettable experience. The Owl Cabin was cosy, comfortable, and perfectly equipped with two single beds, a toilet, shower, basin, a small tea and coffee station, and a lovely little deck overlooking the most breathtaking forest views. Waking up to the peaceful surroundings each morning was an absolute treat. Our host, Rainer, was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel genuinely welcome, showed us around the property, and was incredibly friendly, helpful, and hospitable throughout our stay. The communal facilities are fantastic, with a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable lounges in front of a crackling fireplace, a pool table, table tennis, and a beautiful bonfire area where guests can relax and unwind. Every space has been thoughtfully designed to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. One of the absolute highlights is the stunning chapel tucked away in the woods. Built with beautiful timber and expansive glass, it overlooks the forest and valley, creating the most magical setting imaginable for a wedding or special occasion. If you're looking for peace, nature, comfort, and genuine hospitality, I cannot recommend Dargle Forest Lodge highly enough. It's a hidden gem, and my son and I left with wonderful memories that we'll treasure for years to come. We can't wait to return!

What an incredible experience. I had the privilege of spending time with Abit the beautiful horse, and from the moment I arrived, I felt completely immersed in the experience. The bond I felt developing between horse and rider was something I did not expect to be so profound and it made the entire experience unforgettable. A special thank you to Lizzy. Her teaching goes far beyond horse riding and handling. I would also like to thank Sihle for his kindness, support and outstanding service. Every interaction was met with warmth and genuine care, creating an environment where I felt welcomed, comfortable and supported throughout my visit. What stood out most was the passion, professionalism and authenticity of everyone involved. This wasn’t just a horse riding experience. It was an opportunity to slow down, be present, learn and connect. I will most definitely be returning. Highly recommended to anyone looking for more than just a riding lesson, as you’ll leave with memories, valuable lessons and a deeper appreciation for these incredible animals.

We recently spent a night at Dargle Forest Lodge campsite and it competes with our best camping experiences. If you are looking for rustic camping with a touch of luxury this is it, a relaxing, scenic, and well-maintained spot in Dargle. Setting & Atmosphere The campsite is situated on a mountain ridge with pine trees offering a great wind break. The 2 sites are large and flat. We were in site number 1, which was spacious enough to accommodate a Bushlapa, towing vehicle and tents comfortably. The camp site had a lush green lawn and plenty of trees, providing a good mix of shade and sunshine throughout the day. It is also incredibly quiet, broken only by the wind whispering through the pine trees and the local bird life. Facilities & Amenities * Ablutions: The ablutions are currently shared between 2 campsite’s offering separate Ladies and Gents bathroom’s. Two showers, two toilets, and a basin each. They were rustic and spotlessly clean and offered hot water (electrically-heated). * Amenities: The campsite shares a large fire pit/braai with ample workspace, a sink for washing up (with hot water), electricity points, and lighting. * Cabins/Safari Tents: There are both wood Cabins and Safari tents on the lodge with a communal kitchen. * Cafe: A lovely communal cafe/lounge with ample seating arrangements inside and out (Tables & Chairs or Sofas) a cosy fire place, pool table and a swimming pool with a view. * Weddings: A lovely chapel and hall, both offering a stunning view. * Bonus Features: Lots of fire wood Activities * Relaxing: The area is safe and peaceful. There are forest walks on the property and hiking in the area for those who want to be active. The hike down to the dam was great fun but did require some bush whacking. * Horse Riding: For adults and children. * A dam for fishing with picnic table however 4x4 is required. Management The owners Rayne & Lizzy were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating, making the check-in process smooth and ensuring we had everything we needed. Tips for Future Campers * Water: Water was from a spring and is safe to drink. * Supplies: The lodge is quite far from the two nearest towns Howick/Nottingham Road, so come prepared with food and supplies, as a trip on the dirt and tar road will take 45-60 minutes each way depending on road conditions. Verdict: If you want a private, clean, and beautiful rustic forest getaway, Dargle Forest Lodge is highly recommended.
