Canefields is a beautiful venue just outside of Empangeni on the N2. It feels like you have left town when you arrive there. The food provided by La Fusion chefs is wonderful. The premises are huge with lots of accommodation and conference facilities.

Great place to relax and enjoy the views, plus having an on-site restaurant and bar makes it’s easier if you don’t like traveling a lot

Bad wedding experience 2 years ago. I had informed Tracey of everything we wanted: only open the bar at 16h30; we need white plates for everyone to dish up food, etc., and she assured me that all will be taken care of. Firstly, I was told the night before my wedding that another wedding (just the ceremony) will take place from 9am-12pm and that they will be using hall 1 (which Tracey said we could use for our caterers and food/ tea/ coffee stations). Not only does that give the caterers and family little time to set up before the ceremony but it adds unnecessary stress to the day for the family helping to set up. Happiness assured me that the other wedding won't run late as she had told them that there is another wedding taking place at 14h30 the same day. On the day of the wedding, I was told that the other wedding had only started at 11am. I was so stressed and it took the joy of getting ready for my big day as all I could think about was my guests waiting for my wedding to start. Yes, a bride running 30 minutes late is understandable, but 2 hours late knowing it may affect another person's wedding is just not right. And who booked first? Surely it should not be allowed to have 2 on the same day so close to each other. Tracey even posted on FB that it was a "last minute wedding". She was also extremely rude to one of my bridesmaids. During Canapes, the bar opened before the agreed time of 16h30 meaning, either the bartenders were not informed of this information or they just opened earlier anyway. After the ceremony, we arrived at the reception with no champagne on our tables and no waiter or anyone there to assist us. The MC had to go and find someone to bring out our champagne. Then, the white dinner plates were not available on the tables nor at the caterer's food station. My husband had to leave me and go find someone to help him. The lady he spoke to said no we can't have plates as we have to pay for it (so no one was informed that we had paid for the plates that needed to be available). During all of this Tracey was busy drinking by the bar (as well as the night before) and was not present to oversee any part of the wedding. After the wedding I was told that after our tea/ coffee station was set up, staff had removed it and put the venues tea/ coffee on the table (after we specified that we would do our own so we don't pay extra). Luckily someone noticed and found our tea/coffee in the kitchen and set it up again. Had no one noticed this we have been charged for tea and coffee. The response from management was an apology but no partial refund or an apology from the person who ruined it.
