What a quaint B&B this is. The staff are so friendly and Helpful. Very comfi big beds, clean, lovely crisp linen, aircon, big fridge, kitchen sink but no utensils or cookware, fan, tv, great wifi. Secure and lovely homely atmosphere. Lovely Spa onsite as well as a restaurant which serves good food. Beautiful gardens with lots of birds. Quiet area. A real gem in Richards Bay.

Our oncologist made a booking for us at The Woodpecker Inn while my mother was undergoing cancer treatment in Richards Bay. Unfortunately, the room was very poorly equipped — there was only one plastic spoon provided to make coffee, and the TV facilities were not working at all. This was especially frustrating as we were staying for the weekend and needed basic comforts for my very ill mother. Due to the inadequate conditions, we had no choice but to cancel the booking and move her to another facility. Despite the circumstances, management at The Woodpecker Inn refused to refund the night we did not stay. This lack of compassion and unwillingness to accommodate a genuine situation was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this place, especially for anyone needing a peaceful and supportive environment during medical treatment. I can however say that the lady at reception was very compassionate and friendly but this situation was not her fault.

I recently visited the spa and tried the unique experience of having the fish ponds where tiny fish eat away the dead skin from your feet. This was a first for me, and I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable and refreshing it was. The venue itself was beautifully maintained, creating a serene and relaxing atmosphere from the moment I arrived. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, guiding me through the process with care and professionalism. The experience was both soothing and effective, leaving my skin feeling incredibly smooth. It was truly a memorable experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to try something different and rejuvenating.

As a local I would like to add. You get charged a 15% tip automatically to you bill when eating and drinking in the restaurant without any notice. Even if you order and collect everything at the bar. Should you want more support from locals, don't Rob us. We will provide a tip, but to our terms. A tip is based off of service, not compulsory!!!
