We had a rough night travelling from a wedding at Cathedral Peak. The Airbnb we had booked ghosted us and we were stranded. The Royal Hotel accommodated us. It was rather late and we arrived there close to 2am (just our luck, we had a flat tyre as well). The staff here were so kind and accommodating and the room was perfect. The bed was really comfortable. Although things are a bit dated here, it really does give you an old world charm.

Old world charm hotel located in the busiest street in town. It is easy to miss the concealed entrance to the hotel from the street side, and so be careful. Once inside, you'll notice the ample parking space. Checking in was quick, and the staff was friendly. The room was spacious and clean. My only gripe was the old noisy aircon, the lack of a bar fridge, and the green towels in the bathroom. Also, the carpet in the passageway can do with a thorough cleaning. Buffet breakfast and dinner are served daily by a very dedicated and welcoming team. The food was great and had variety. Overall, this is a good hotel with a rich history like the town itself. I really had a wonderful experience and can recommend you give this hotel a try if you are in Ladysmith or the surrounding areas.

Stayed here for two nights, loved the hotel.. loved how the astetics and the ancient design..the service was great, especially the fair lady with glasses at the dinning area, she was super helpful and always smiling, they were also very generous to give me a space to conduct my webinar and it was in their prayer room.. yes they have a room for prayers..that just stole my heart..you have gained a loyal customer cos of that..this will be hole whenever am in ladysmith for visit or work.

Visited for work. Room was comfortable and clean. Bathroom was spacious and water was always hot. I didn't like that I was overlooking the main road as it was always noisy. Buffet breakfast and dinner was really good. The chef prepared special vegan meals for me for which I was extremely grateful. Staff are friendly and helpful. They washed my car while I stayed without asking which was a nice gesture but there were scratches on it after... I suspect the person washing my car did not use a clean chamois to dry the car. Overall, nice hotel for short stays.
