We hosted our wedding weekend there at the start of December - 2025. What an incredible weekend it was. Monate staff , the giraffe and buffalo, welcomed us warmly for a weekend we will never forget. The staff work like a well oiled machine. On arrival, we handed our things over to the coordinator and head of catering - and were able to finally relax - after months of planning, we got to enjoy it all! From the incredible game drive, where we watched lion and had sun downers by the dam, to the cave dinner, overlooked by the red moon, to most prefect wedding day- everything was en point. We had 44 guests from abroad who were astounded by the scenery , the staff, the food- the list goes on… But so were the other 100 local guests. We couldn’t recommend this venue more. Thank you , Gugu and Monatate staff for making our wedding everything we wanted

Conducted a Marraige Ceremony there. After 500+ marraiges, the most beautiful venue ever! Most friendly staff. Wonderful food!Monate used, what Mother Nature gave them, and changed it into World Class facility.

We stayed for one night , the reception and restaurant staff were very friendly and service was great . We paid for an aternoon Game Drive which was not a good experience , the Driver did not communicate welll with any of the guests , he seemed to be in a hurry to get to the watering hole and did not want to stop for us to see animlas along the way . When we discussed this with the manager Donovan he handled the issie very professionaly which we did appreciate.

We stayed at Monate Game Lodge for three nights and had a mixed experience. Arrival was warm and welcoming, with friendly staff and a pleasant check-in. However, we were not informed beforehand that the lodge was hosting a wedding. Due to rain, the wedding guests took over the restaurant during dinner, causing service delays, and the reception later moved to a hall next to our room. Loud music continued until around 02:30, making proper sleep impossible on the first night. Housekeeping was inconsistent. Our room was not properly cleaned during the stay (crumbs remained on the floor), and plates from an in-room dinner on Night 2 were still not cleared by the end of Night 3. The putt-putt mini golf course could not be completed as the final hole was blocked and would benefit from proper daily cleaning, especially with children around. According to Booking.com, slippers were included in the room amenities; however, there were none in our room during the stay. The spa experience was excellent — genuinely 5-star. The therapist was professional, attentive, and delivered a treatment we thoroughly enjoyed. Game drives and game walks were also 5-star experiences. Our ranger, Steve, was outstanding and a true highlight of the stay. It was also wonderful to see wildlife such as nyala, impalas, and dassies roaming freely around the lodge grounds. The food itself was very good and deserves 5 stars, especially the homemade touches like fresh crisps on game drives, homemade butter, and ice cream. That said, menu availability was limited throughout the stay (no salmon for all three nights, jalapeño poppers unavailable for the first two nights), and some staff were unfamiliar with menu items or even the soup of the day. Overall good place just needs to focus on attention to details....
