Had the pleasure of staying at Anew Resort Hazyview in March and let me tell you this place is honestly a gem tucked away in Mpumalanga. They offer a blend of comfort, style and warm hospitality. The buffet is a highlight—every meal feels like a celebration, with a wide variety of dishes that are both flavorful and beautifully presented. I think I must have gained 5kgs just from eating that delicious food. The Tucson-style villas add a unique charm to the resort. Their design strikes the perfect balance between rustic elegance and modern comfort, making them ideal for both relaxation and a touch of adventure. What stood out for me (beside the food) was the service. Every employee I encountered was attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Whether at the front desk, in the dining area, or around the grounds, the staff went out of their way to ensure guests felt valued and cared for. That consistency in service made our stay more memorable and adds to the resort’s reputation for excellence. Overall, Anew Resort Hazyview delivers on every front—delicious food, distinctive accommodation, and outstanding service. It’s a destination I’d happily recommend to anyone seeking a relaxing yet enriching getaway. Phabeni and Numbi gates to Kruger National Park is just 20 minutes from here.

Everything about this place suggest faded glory. This place is clearly way beyond its prime. We arrived and were not greeted by anyone to help us with the bags. For a hotel advertising to be a resort, this was a let-down. We don’t mind carrying our own bags, but if you pay for a four-star experience, this is a let-down. Arriving at the main lobby, we were greeted by a handyman who was clearly doing his best and was busy doing other things. He told us he was sorry for not being able to help us. We were given our room, which had a hole in the plasterwork of the toilet wall, a light switch with exposed electrical wiring, which we couldn’t use, a closet with a missing door, and the sound of a small aeroplane taking off. It turns out this was some sort of pump for the air conditioning. This shocked us, so we asked for a new room. Luckily, the lady at the front desk helped us get a new room, which, whilst outdated, was okay. We would be inclined to give them a better score if it weren’t for the buffet, which was included in the price. We are vegetarians, so we would like to emphasise the fact that we are used to buffets being underwhelming. If we have a good salad, we are happy. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. The soup was okay-ish but lukewarm, the bread hadn’t risen, and the “salad section” contained acidic tomatoes, acidic feta, and acidic onions. The potatoes contained sand, and the carrots were old. The taste of the latter was hidden by an unholy amount of pepper. The reason we didn’t inform the maître d’ was that there were only two people serving, cleaning, and seating nearly 30 people. They tried to do this to the best of their abilities, but it was a superhuman task. Nevertheless, the place was still half empty, and we were left wondering how they would ever manage if this place were fully booked. I would again like to stress how hard the staff tries to make you feel welcome, but this only makes the fact that they are understaffed more apparent. We ended dinner with a glass of wine to wash away the disappointment. Afterwards, we toured the grounds, but everything was closed at 19:00 despite the 24/7 claim. We tried to have another drink at the boma, but, as already stated, everything was closed. Disappointed, we went to our room, where, a few moments later, a knock was heard. We had forgotten to pay for our wine. We were flabbergasted. We asked to put it on the room, the number of which they had asked for twice during dinner, but this was not allowed. We settled the bill then and there. If you can avoid this place, please do! This hotel either needs to increase its investment in staff or downsize.

Nice stay at Anew Hotel Kruger Park! The staff were professional, friendly, & helpful. The porters were excellent, ensuring our bags were delivered to our rooms. The food was also good with a wide variety of options at the buffet. My room was big & spacious. The downside was the shower water didn’t drain too quickly. Also, the driving path leading to the hotel can be a little slippery when it’s wet. However, the hotel’s landscaping was absolutely beautiful, and my stay felt far too short — I almost missed out on seeing the garden and pool area.

ANew Hotel Hazyview (formerly Casa do Sol) We had a truly memorable stay at ANew Hotel Hazyview. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and professionalism. Bongi at reception was exceptionally helpful and made us feel immediately at home. Speedy, our waiter, was an absolute character and a highlight of our stay. He kept us entertained with his wonderful personality and was always on hand to assist with anything we needed. His attentiveness and friendliness added so much to the overall experience. The hotel itself is a true gem in the Lowveld. The gardens are absolutely beautiful, with immaculately manicured lawns that make you feel as though you’ve been transported back in time to a luxurious, tranquil haven. There’s a nostalgic charm about the property that really sets it apart. I do wish there was more visible information about the hotel’s history. Knowing when it began, how it has evolved, and seeing photos of its transformation over the decades would add so much depth to the experience and make guests feel part of its rich, timeless story. The menu selection felt a little limited in my opinion, leaning more towards an overseas clientele with international-style pricing. That said, my husband absolutely loved the African buffet — especially the tripe, samp, and homemade chakalaka, which were outstanding and full of authentic flavour. One small practical note: the signage off the main road is quite hidden by bushes when approaching the hotel, so clearer or more visible signage would be helpful for arriving guests. Overall, this is a beautiful hotel with incredible staff, stunning grounds, and a unique atmosphere. A true Lowveld treasure, and one we will definitely be returning to. I would love to learn more about its history on our next visit.
