Destination wedding venue, specializing in weekend weddings. Situated in the highveld of Mpumalanga 2.5 hours drive from Pta or Jhb, on a farm to the east of Ermelo.

With over 100 hectares of farm lands along the stunning Vaal River, Smitsfield Venue offers a picturesque setting for your special day. Enjoy exclusive weekends wedding, ample setup time, no rush and stress-free wedding experience. Immerse yourself in the enchanting atmosphere of our venues at Smitsfield. • Step into our historic chapel, constructed in 1924, seating up to 280 guests. The chapel's open walls and crystal chandeliers create a romantic ambiance. • For a whimsical forest ceremony, our Poplar Forest, overlooking a ravine, is the perfect choice (additional setup charge applies). • Exchange vows under the majestic oak tree canopy, planted over 60 years ago, providing a natural and organic setting. Our newly constructed reception hall, inspired by the industrial factory style of the 1900s, features a stunning glass entrance, diamond-like timber trusses, and a shimmering chandelier. The venue offers a clean palette that complements various wedding styles, from classic to modern, rustic to simplistic. The venue can accommodate up to 350 guests. Smitsfield offers a very unique accommodation experience, with restored wooden train carriage’s dating from the 1950’s and modern container like suites. We can accommodate 38 guests on the property. Breakfast is included for all guests staying on the venue, adding value for a full weekend wedding experience. For the bride and groom we have luxuriously decorated a bridal suite and salon in a restored train carriage, where we serve a champagne breakfast for the ladies as they prep for the big day. The men are spoiled with a vintage sports bar inspired grooms lounge, a perfect backdrop for those classic cigar and whiskey prep moments. Our in house catering has been carefully curated to complement country cuisine, offering an inclusive 5 course dining experience with the option of plated, buffet or family style serving. We also offer various catering options for a pre-wedding function from traditional spit braai to gourmet pizza and wine evenings.

We had a wonderful experience at this wedding venue. The accommodation is extremely comfortable, the food is excellent, and the park is beautifully maintained, enhanced by magnificent centuries-old trees that give the place a truly special charm. The large accommodation capacity also makes it very easy to organize a wedding where many guests can stay on site, creating a relaxed and convivial atmosphere for everyone. We can’t wait to discover the new features and improvements that are planned, it sounds very exciting! A special congratulations to Helene and Marius for their professionalism, kindness, and warm hospitality. They truly make the place unique. Highly recommended!

This venue is situated in a beautiful part of the Mpumalanga province - about 15 to 16 kilometers outside Ermelo. The gardens are maintained very well. The accomodation is cosy and the facilities are neat. If you don't like noisy neighbours, I would suggest paying extra to get accomodation in the container rooms or one of the small flats. The train accomodation is nice, but can become a problem if your neighbors are in a party mood.

As a photographer I've shot weddings at multiple wedding venues across South Africa, and I can honestly say that Smitsfield Venue is (and always will be) one of my absolute favourite venues to shoot at. The food is ridiculously delicious, the reception hall modern and cosy, and the getting ready area/accommodation is a unique and memorable experience. Smitsfield truly is a one-of-a-kind venue, and Heléne and her team always goes out of their way to make sure that every couples' wedding is as stress-free and special as possible. Smitsfield honestly deserves nothing less than a 5 star rating!

Jandre here from Xtreme Events. Absolutely stunning venue and amazing Service. So easy to work with and amazing food. Our DJS have veen here quite a few times and everytime it's a perfect experience. They can communicate also clearly and every vender definitely appreciates their friendlyness. Yes We bring equipment, and we love that the venue also has equipment that we can patch in to for dish-up areas and other part of venue. Also again. Food is perfect everytime.
