The personalised service here is more like a Four Seasons than a Protea. The reception somehow found that I was a vegan (I assume from somewhere deep in my Marriott profile) and told the restaurant so they'd have something ready in case I wanted dinner. The events receptionist saw me with two heavy bags and offered to carry one. What an amazing team! The rooms haven't been renovated in a long time but they're comfortable, extremely clean and well maintained. The gym is a bit of an embarrassment and needs a lot of attention! Breakfast was great with the same lovely service and a wide choice of fruit, cereals and plant-based milks

There’s a truck loading cars at the far end but the premises of the hotel at the parking lot switching on and off the engine, I can not sleep, I called the reception for help now the truck has been on forever. This truck has been here fro around 17:00 and it is still here making this noise and “I literally feel like it is in my room” check the time now, it is 22:54😭😭😩🤕

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome and valued. A special thank you goes to Retabile at the reception. She was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, and her proactive communication—checking in on us to ensure our room was comfortable—made a significant difference. Although we haven’t checked out yet, we are thoroughly enjoying our experience and appreciate the high standard of service throughout. Thank you once again for making our stay memorable. Absolutely disappointing experience at Protea Hotel Klerksdorp. I reported a hot water problem at 8:00 am. By 12:00 pm, there was still no hot water and barely a trickle of water coming through the taps. Only to hear that it was a simple switch issue. Could they not have checked that ? This is a basic service failure. Four hours with no resolution is unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. Service response was poor. Communication was lacking. Guest comfort was clearly not a priority. This stay did not meet expectations. I would not recommend this hotel based on the service experienced.
