About Avontuur Estate

The Home of Fine Wine and Fast Horses. Avontuur is a well known wine estate situated in-between Somerset West and Stellenbosch.

The farm covers some prime Winelands real estate and boasts incredible views spanning over False Bay across to Table Mountain. Recent renovations of the iconic Old Cape Dutch Manor House has resulted in a world class accommodation offering that also lends itself to one of the most beautiful wedding settings in the region. The rolling lawns of the Manor House are cradled by magnificent gardens amongst the tranquil horse paddocks, where some of South Africa’s highest rated thoroughbred race horses have now retired to breed. The stylishly upgraded barrel cellar venue maintains its rustic authenticity, yet has a modern charm. It is an ideal wedding reception venue that can seat up to 140 guests and includes a separate bar area as well as an outside terrace with all the breathtaking views you could hope for. The multiple award winning restaurant caters the most delicious and generous food for all occasions and adapts well to any special requests that our guests require. Avontuur Wines speak for themselves and as winemaker Jan Van Rooyen says, “we are blessed with some of the best terroir on the Western Slopes of the Helderberg”. Where to even begin to write a review for the Avontuur Manor House. We booked the manor house for the night before and night of our wedding. I was absolutely mesmerised by the beauty of the manor house and how every room was set up so perfectly, and each room is so beautifully unique. The staff were brilliant and incredibly helpful, from unloading our car to cooking breakfast for all twenty of us, their service was top tier. They made our whole wedding experience even better and more exciting. A million thank yous to you guys.

Absolutely Amazing Experience! Our wedding weekend at Avontuur Manor was nothing short of incredible! The team went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Fantastic Stay at Avontuur Manor House! Our experience at Avontuur Manor House was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment we arrived, the warm welcome from Craig and the Team made us feel right at home. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect—helping us with our bags, offering to steam our dresses before the wedding, and always being available to assist with anything we needed. The breakfasts each morning were a real treat—delicious, beautifully presented, and the perfect way to start the day. Absolutely the best place to stay before your wedding! Staff were so helpful and had great manners. Lovely rooms and bathrooms. Food is excellent. Great staff that help you throughout your special day with steaming of dresses or anything else you need before the big day. They made us feel so welcome and took off the extra stress of the day. My friend that got married had the best people to help her. Would highly recommend this place for weddings or to stay beforehand.
