We booked La Felicita earlier in the year based on a recommendation from another couple getting married in the same area. We needed a spacious place for our family and bridal team to stay and get ready, and the property seemed ideal. Lee was wonderful from the beginning, helpful, accommodating, and incredibly responsive throughout the booking process. She even helped arrange catering for us on the day we arrived, which we really appreciated. We booked six suites in total for the Friday to Sunday, and check-in was smooth.
However, our experience during our wedding weekend was mixed. Upon arrival, we were informed that an event would be taking place directly in front of one of our suites, something we had not been made aware of beforehand. This was disappointing, especially because we had planned to take our wedding photos in front of that suite due to its beautiful views, which we were ultimately unable to do.
On the morning of the wedding, the suite I was staying in (the bridal suite) had a burst geyser. Maintenance arrived quickly but were unable to fix it, leaving us with only one functioning shower out of the three in the apartment. This caused delays as we started getting ready. Shortly after, the plug points also stopped working, meaning we couldn’t charge our devices, steam the dresses, or use any hair tools. When we reported our feedback in an email after checking out, we were told that “these things happen” and that it was out of their control. The event happening outside had also plugged into the socket right outside our house (which we suspected contributed to the plug issues), and despite notifying the on-site person, nothing was done about it. This is something that should’ve been in their control
Throughout the morning, several people entered the house without clear identification. The maintenance team introduced themselves, but we were concerned about others who appeared to be coming from the event infront of Mansion. At one point, someone walked into our villa to get water from the kitchen, which left us confused and worried about the safety of our belongings, especially while trying to troubleshoot the electrical issues that were impacting our ability to get ready.
Additionally, about a month before check-in, we were informed for the first time that a damages deposit of R500 per room was required. This was not mentioned on the website or in any of our earlier communication, but we paid it upon arrival. After checking out, we received a photo of a pillow with unclear “damage” and had R200 deducted. We couldn’t tell what the issue was, and given everything that had happened and the fact that we weren’t advised to inspect the rooms together at check-in, the deduction felt unfair, especially since it could have been pre-existing wear and tear. Our friends who booked separately were charged a R1,000 deposit, so we’re unsure what criteria is used. Because this fee isn’t listed on the website, it seems to be applied on a case-by-case basis.
Overall, the rooms were tidy, the environment is peaceful, and many staff members were pleasant. However, the issues we experienced on the morning of our wedding, combined with the lack of accountability in how the situation was handled, left us disappointed. We hope this feedback helps future guests, and we hope the management takes it seriously so that their service can match the beauty of the property.
