If you’re thinking of having a function at the Argyle, think again. We hired the chandelier room months before the wedding. What we thought was a beautiful hidden gem, turned out to be a nightmare. Three weeks before our wedding, management called to say they are building a stage with a drum set and sound panels on the walls, all of the walls. We had the choice of getting a refund or moving our wedding downstairs to a smaller space which was not going to accommodate our guests. The stage made the chandelier room smaller, to compensate for the space, we were promised the courtyard for our guests to enjoy their welcome drinks as well as sound at our wedding. The day before, the courtyard was taken away, we were told to pay for it, we had no space to pray, they wouldn’t allow us to pray in the courtyard for 10mins. The sound was inadequate, there was no laptop, after they told us to bring a usb and there was no mic. On the day of the wedding Lindia, who is head of management, threatened to cancel our wedding. They didn’t allow the bride to enter the premises and neither did they allow our caterer to prepare anything in the kitchen that was promised to us as well. Our guests, who had no idea of what we were going through, said they overheard a woman talking about canceling our wedding, turns out it was Lindia herself speaking ill of us in front of our guests. We were told we’ll have no problem with loadshedding, turns out we had to pay for that too and were only told on the day of the wedding. I understand wedding stress, but this was next level. I’ve not experienced this service from anywhere before. Lindia and the owner, Scott, were unprofessional and pretty nasty towards us.

We planned a wedding at this venue and it was by far the worst experience I’ve had with event management. We were promised a bare venue, 2 weeks in they built a permanent stage that wasn’t agreed on. We were promised sound, we had access to the speakers and sound board but on the day we were told we can’t use the mics because they locked in a closet with a table in front of it. The manager in charge Lindia was incredibly rude and unwelcoming, on multiple occasions she demonstrated unprofessional behaviour and really made the build up to the wedding stressful.Wouldn’t book that venue if I had a gun to my head, if you do plan on booking the venue, make sure you have a lawyer with you to draft a contract before paying because they will change things without notice. If I could I would give -1 stars horrible venue.
