We visited Benguela Cove for brunch in early May on a lovely and sunny Saturday, finding ourselves the only guests in the expansive, beautifully designed restaurant. While the quiet atmosphere felt a bit unusual for such a grand space, it allowed us to fully appreciate the extraordinary location. The panoramic views over the lagoon are simply world-class and provide a stunning backdrop for any meal. The brunch itself was pleasant, highlighted by a fantastic smoothie that was clearly prepared with care. However, there was a small lapse in service: the flapjacks arrived cold at the table. In a setting of this caliber, one expects the hot dishes to match the excellence of the surroundings, so this was a bit of a letdown. For those visiting, it’s worth noting that Benguela Cove is more than just a restaurant; it is a premier destination in the Walker Bay region. Founded in 2013 by the entrepreneur Penny Streeter OBE, the estate has quickly become a landmark for luxury and viticulture. They are specialists in cool-climate viticulture. While their Syrah is excellent, the estate's signature wine is undoubtedly their Sauvignon Blanc. The vines sit right on the water’s edge, giving the wine a distinct, sophisticated minerality influenced by the Atlantic breeze. Despite the minor temperature issue with the food, the sheer beauty of the estate and the quality of the drinks make it a must-visit when near Hermanus. It’s a place where the scenery alone is worth the trip

We had a great afternoon at Benguela Cove wine tasting with our lovely knowledgeable host. We tried the wine and food pairing option, which included an oyster, slices of crocodile cerviche, fig and cheese and a delicious brownie. The platter is a must, it was absolutely delicious, full of different cheese, meats, nuts, fruits and bread. We were never rushed, a perfect afternoon. Needless to say the wines were delicious! Benguela is not just for adults, there is a crazy golf and splash park for children. What a fabulous location for children's parties. Added bonus for me, I found out Benguela has a sister restaurant in Sussex England. I will definitely be visiting!!!

The chocolate and wine pairing at Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate was an absolutely unforgettable experience! 🍷🍫 The setting is breathtaking, with beautiful views over the lagoon and vineyards, creating the perfect atmosphere to relax and enjoy something truly special after a day of adventure. The pairing itself was exceptional — each wine perfectly matched with delicious chocolates, with great attention to detail in both flavor and presentation. A special thank you to Valentin, who served us during the tasting. His friendly, professional, and knowledgeable approach made the experience even more enjoyable, and you can truly see the passion for what he does. It’s the perfect stop for our guests to unwind, enjoy world-class wine, and experience something unique in a stunning location. A big thank you to the team at Benguela Cove for always delivering such a memorable and high-quality experience — highly recommended!

We had a Durban friends over and was a group and my sister is a tour guide. She takes guests here all the time. She wanted them to see the gallery and sculptures to buy. We left 15minutes later as they saw nothing. The owner was rude came to the parking lot. Shouted at us swore ugly words and said we spent no money. It was awful. He swore at me as a woman ugly words. Verbally abusive. It was very sad to see this racism as we wore headscarves. 2026 and they continue to own and be racist.
