About Ladismith Manor

Ladismith Manor is a restored Edwardian House originally built in 1913.

It’s centrally located in Ladismith (550m) on the famous Route 62 and nestles at the foot of the Klein Swartberg mountain range in the Klein Karoo. Situated on Route 62, it is linked by tarred main roads to all major centres, including Cape Town (320km), Oudtshoorn (100km), Montagu (139km), George (160km), Mossel Bay (185km) and Port Elizabeth (420km).   Ladismith is well known for its mountain biking, trails, an abundance of wildlife, and deciduous orchards and vineyards.

Last weekend we had a lovely 2nights' stay at the Ladismith Manor with Alex, the competent and friendly host. A lovely large room in the house. User-friendly covered pool area. Very good breakfasts. We often stay over as my 90 year old mom is in the retirement home directly next to the Ladismith Manor.

We visited "Ladismith Manor" in February, just before lockdown. The owner and host, Alex is your unofficial guide on everything in and around the area. Knowledgeable, accommodating, superb chef, and just a really great guy. A special mention to Peanut, the cat who patiently offers himself for cuddles to willing guests.

One of the safest towns and a super stopover while travelling through the Karoo. The house is quaint and dinner next to crackling fireside was very comforting. Alex is a wonderful host and a superb cook. His love of curries was largely evident in the mouth-watering Butter chicken or Thai Green curry that was served to me during my stay. You might even be lucky enough to taste one of his delicious Scottish shortbread biscuits when he has been in the mood for baking. During my stay I managed to do numerous walks around the #Ladismith “koppies” (perfect for any age) although hiking up @Towerkop is not for the faint hearted but an exhilarating experience. Driving through Seweweekspoort mountain pass was really impressive ending with an appetizing casual lunch and some wine tasting at De Krans. Ladismith Manor is clean cosy and most welcoming and I highly recommend.
