Had an absolutely magical wedding weekend at Dunn's Castle. It was the perfect setting with breathtaking surrounds. Our wedding was small and intimate, with 28 guests, and the venue was especially well suited for a microwedding (though I have no doubt they would easily be able to handle larger weddings too). The cost of the event and accommodation for guests were extremely reasonable, and we were able to host our families here for the weekend for the same price we would have paid for only a venue for a few hours in Cape Town. It was well worth it. The castle itself takes up to 12 guests, but Piketberg Guesthouse is on the same property and has additional space. The owners of Dunn's Castle, as well as Este, who was my main contact, were incredibly accommodating and gracious hosts. Just a few months before the wedding, I found out I have a condition with particular dietary needs. They sourced a chef who specialised in providing food that would be suitable. I was provided with safe options all weekend, including at breakfasts, the wedding harvest table, and the wedding dinner. The groom is vegetarian as were about a third of the guests and they too were well looked after. The vegetarian korma served at dinner was a standout, as was the vegan Eton mess for dessert. Thank you Este, owners, chef, and all staff for helping us put together a truly beautiful day. We will remember it always!

A Hidden Gem in Piketberg – A Truly Enchanting Stay at Dunn’s Castle! Our two-night stay at Dunn’s Castle in Piketberg was nothing short of magical! Nestled against the scenic Piketberg Mountains, this historic guesthouse offers the perfect blend of old-world charm and modern comfort. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the castle’s stunning architecture, beautifully maintained gardens, and breathtaking views over the valley. The rooms were cozy, well-appointed, and filled with character, making us feel like we had stepped into a fairytale. The hospitality was warm and welcoming, with staff going above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience. Every little detail, from the comfortable beds to the delightful breakfast, made our stay special. One of the highlights was simply relaxing on the veranda with a glass of wine, soaking in the tranquility and watching the sunset over the rolling hills. The peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Dunn’s Castle is a must-visit for history lovers, nature enthusiasts, or anyone looking for a charming getaway in the Cape’s countryside. We left feeling refreshed, inspired, and eager to return. Highly recommended!

Stayed as part of a large group camp booking and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Dunn's Castle. I've rated 5 stars even though I had an issue or two, because those issues were more due to my own physical difficulties and preferences and I am sure they would be rectified pronto if at all possible. The management and staff went above and beyond in every respect for our stay. The lovely rooms and grounds kept clean, wonderful food, stunning views, peaceful atmosphere and surroundings and attentive yet discreet staff all made for a memorable stay. Even the very busy road being so close wasn't too intrusive. Rustic yet comfortable, it suited our group needs well. The property is quite sloped, lots of stairs between amenities and buildings so care should be taken regarding mobility concerns when booking but having said that, I'm sure everything possible would be done to assist and address needs. Pack mosquito repellant. Very close to Piketberg for shopping for anything you may have forgotten to pack. *I would recommend rails be added to pools for getting in and out more safely, as well as to some staired outside areas. A very pleasant stay!
