We came as a family of four (2 children aged 12 and 8). It was our first ever safari experience and it was truly great! The hotel/lodge is clean, has all you need, staff are super accommodating. We came in August (winter) so it can be chilly in the morning and evenings. In the day it’s really warm with the sun out (we came from the UK). The family room was lovely, well decorated and comfortable. Housekeeping tend to all your room needs efficiently. They turn your room over a few times a day and leave little gifts on your pillow - signature chocolate imprinted with the lodge and picture of an animal or toffee. The restaurant has several buffet options available with something for all. Beverages were not included in our package including bottled water but they do fill these up daily in your mini fridge. We did not use the kiddies club but their daily schedules looked like fun. The safari experiences were amazing! The guides know their roles well and we were lucky enough to see all of the Big 5 in 3 game drives. Allow 3-4hours for each game drive. Wrap up warm during the winter months. They give you blankets but you need a beanie and warm layers even so. The highlight of our trip was the elephants who come near the restaurant from time to time to feed or drink water. Plenty of seating was available looking out into the scenery. The Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge is highly recommended by us.

Got $300 dollars STOLEN, everything else was amazing though, great food and great amenities. Just be mindful that the staff along side the baboons will attempt to steal your money. Aside from that great safari tours and amazing room. The water in the shower could be better too.

Great resort inside Pilanesburg National Park. Our accomodations included breakfast and dinner, and a game drive per night. The hotel rooms were spacious, came with 4 complimentary water bottles a day and clean. Some bugs, but we asked housekeeping to spray which they did. The resort had 2 pools, one with a waterslide which kept the kids entertained. Also had a rock climbing wall and mini golf. They had a hideaway where you walked through a tunnel to take you to an underground view of the park which often has animals such as elephants passing through. The breakfast spread was amazing with everything you could think of. We did dinner in the bush one night which was a night BBQ experience with fish, chicken and beef skewers and some vegetarian sides. The buffet at the hotel the other night also had a good spread of proteins, pasta, etc. We ordered room service a la carte pizza a few times and it was all good food. We are from Canada and have sensitive stomachs - there was one day our stomachs we all off and unsure if it was from the food or the bottled water we bought from the gift shop. CONS: The pool wasn't as clean as expected with debris fallen in. The game drives were good but have been to other national parks and have seen more animals, in greater quantity. Unsure if we just got unlucky or drivers just driving around. Still a great experience. Overall would rate this hotel a 4 out of 5 stars. Staff were helpful and great, lots of things to do on the resort and rooms and food were good.

Pros: You can go on a safari with your baby, even if they’re under one year old. Also, the accommodation has plenty of facilities for children to play, like sandpits and slides. The food is great, and the restaurant staff are professional, efficient, and warm. Cons: The rooms aren’t soundproofed well. After coming back from the safari during the day and wanting to catch up on sleep, the noise from housekeeping cleaning other rooms was too loud to sleep at all. Reception didn’t smile at all—they looked as serious as if we owed them money. In theory, the room comes with four 330ml bottles of water a day, but on the first day, there were only two in the fridge. Today, after housekeeping, there were none. I went to ask housekeeping for two, and also requested some from room service. The first time, room service said okay but never delivered. When I called again, they claimed they’d already sent it. I said we only had two bottles, and only then did they reluctantly send two more. At 330ml, it’s gone in one sip. I don’t know how valuable a bottle of water is compared to a 7,000 rand per night room rate and guest satisfaction. In short, the housekeeping and reception attitudes were very poor, the room soundproofing was bad, and the cleaning staff were noisy. I won’t choose this place again.
