If you're looking for one of the top stays in Mthatha, this place earns a solid 4/5. The executive rooms are a standout spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully designed. From the plush, comfortable bed to the sleek modern furnishings, everything feels fresh and well-maintained. Bonus points for the working air conditioning, both bath and shower options, and a walk-in wardrobe that adds a touch of luxury. The location is a bit removed from the town center, which could be a perk or a pain depending on your travel plans. For weary road-trippers, it’s a welcome retreat. For those needing quick access to town, the extra drive might be less ideal. The food experience, however, was a letdown. A plate of fish and chips arrived looking decent, but the fish itself was tough, chewy, and clearly not fresh. Presentation can only go so far when the taste doesn’t follow through. Service delivery could use a polish. If you request room service breakfast, it should arrive as room service. That said, the staff are generally competent, and the overall experience still ranks this hotel among Mthatha’s best.

I stayed at Menucha Country Lodge in the Khalankomo Self-Catering Apartment while visiting my aunt in Khalankomo Village, Qumbu. Though the lodge is in Mthatha, the location was convenient and peaceful. I arrived late and didn’t meet the staff, but the room was spotless, spacious, and very comfortable. The bed was warm and inviting, with clean linen and a quiet atmosphere that made it easy to rest. The kitchenette was fully equipped, making self-catering simple and convenient. Although I had to leave early and missed breakfast, I truly appreciated the professional concierge service that dropped me at Mthatha Airport. Even without much interaction, the care and preparation were clear. A perfect place for comfort and peace when visiting Mthatha or nearby villages.

Although located a few kms out of town and amenities, Menucha is home away from home. Rooms are aesthetically pleasing and clean. The staff is hospitable and very helpful, they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at ease. The food is delicious and will remind you of home.
