Had dinner with a few of my friends this week , absolutely loved the flame restaurant. Before going to flame we walked through the lobby and We were welcomed by the staff and they were lovely, we really felt warmly welcomed by them, they are fantastic, the restaurant had great service however we experienced this weird thing that happens to black customers with a black servers , at first I thought it was just me who noticed that but as soon as we were seated my friends brought up how the lady at the door was extremely hostile towards us … it was as if she was annoyed by our presence which was pretty upsetting because we were all so respectful towards her so that kind of put us off , I don’t want to out her, she was not the hostess she was a waitress who just happened to be by the door when we arrived. The actual hostess was very sweet . The cocktails were delicious and refreshing . I had ordered the seared tuna taco , I thoroughly enjoyed it as someone who doesn’t eat avocado. My friend had the wagyu burger which she loved and so did I , I didn’t expect it to have that many flavors, I’d definitely recommend that. The complimentary bread was great however it was a bit hard and not very warm but we enjoyed some of that. Our servers were palesa and Tiinyiko , we really enjoyed patience and service , Can’t wait to be back for lunch

My 2 sons and I stayed at the Four Seasons Johannesburg in late June and early July. We used the hotel as our home base as we did a safari in Madikwe and then visited the Seychelle Islands. The staff here was wonderful and frequently made us feel like we were in a White Lotus episode as they always lined up to greet us and to say goodbye. A special shout out to Adam, Mpho and Precious at the font desk for always ensuring that our stay was perfect and Ayanda who gave terrific service at the coffee lounge. The breakfast buffet was amazing with a variety of fresh and tasty items- an egg station, waffle/crepe station, hot American breakfast entrees, meats and cheeses, tasty pastries and breads, a wide selection of yoghurts and cereals. We also asked for the Four Seasons to provide pickup and dropoff to the airport as well as a driver for our4.5 hr ride to Madikwe and all the drivers were wonderful and safe. But a special should out to Rabinda who drove us most of the time. He always made us feel safe and engaged in the most interesting conversations with us which made the time pass quickly! Thank you Rabinda for doing such a fantastic job. Loved our whole experience here.

My parents and I stayed at the hotel in June and had the most amazing experience! The staff was so lovely and kind, always greeting us with smiles on their faces, and also so attentive. Breakfast was always tasty and created with locally sourced foods. We booked an expedition with the hotel and any timing issues were resolved immediately and they handled the whole process. Thank you so much to the four seasons team, we will definitely plan to return!

This review relates specifically to the venue booking service and not the hotel, restaurant, or spa. My mother and I viewed the venue in February 2026 and were particularly interested in booking the Cellar Door venue for a private event. While the venue itself was beautiful, the booking process was extremely disappointing. After the viewing, we exchanged several emails regarding menu options. On 26 February, I requested an invoice so that payment could be made and the booking secured. When I received no response, I followed up on 27 February and was advised that the matter would be attended to the following Monday. I promptly provided all requested billing information on Monday, only to receive a call later that day informing me that the venue had already been booked by another client. I was told the booking had been confirmed on 27 February — the day after my request for an invoice went unanswered. I understand that a venue is not secured until payment is received, but I made every effort to move the process forward and was unable to do so because of the lack of communication. Unfortunately, this experience left a very poor impression and fell well below the level of service I would expect from an establishment of this calibre.
