About River Place

With a stunning riverside setting on the northern outskirts of Johannesburg, River Place is a picturesque venue for romantic getaways, gastronomic experiences, weddings, special events and conferences, spread over 18 hectares of scenic mountain valley bushland.

Taking full advantage of its prime riverfront position along the banks of the Hennops River, River Place is renowned for its al Fiume riverside restaurant and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, and is the perfect setting for a romantic dinner or to celebrate a special event. The River View lapa-style venue and the Mountain View stone farmhouse are private function rooms that can be used for conferences, weddings or special events for up to 18 and 48 guests respectively. Both venues have deck areas and views of the surrounding hills. For a romantic getaway, special event or overnight conference, River Place offers 16 deluxe cottage-style rooms and three stone-clad suites. The light, airy rooms are comfortably furnished and have DStv, full en-suite bathrooms and private patios. The luxurious suites are located closer to the river and have king-sized beds and separate lounge areas. With its beautiful natural setting and variety of facilities and venues, River Place presents many options to celebrate special occasions, capture those once-in-a-lifetime memories, participate in fun team building activities, or hold productive executive meetings.

Really exceptional service from Monica and the team. Words can’t even describe how happy we were. Our wedding came out so much better than we could’ve imagined. For this, a special shout out to Wimpie the decor guy. He’s truly brilliant. Even though we had 110 guests at our wedding, we still paid less than we would’ve paid at other venue for 80 or so people. Added bonus is the fact that decor is included in the package, which is usually an additional charge at other venues. Not to mention the food. It was tasty and plentiful! Those ladies in the kitchen know their stuff. Monica and the team were more than willing to accommodate any reasonable requests. I would definitely recommend Rivier Plaas to anyone looking for a cozy, rustic and beautiful wedding venue. 10/10.

If you're looking for a beautiful rustic wedding venue, Rivier Plaas is the perfect place! We took a package deal for 90 guests which is much more affordable than doing everything separately. Monica, Wimpie and Grietjie will make sure that it is the perfect day. They put in the extra effort to make sure everything is how we wanted it. The timeline of the wedding was spot on. The flowers were spot on, Wimpie is so good with the flowers and decor. The food was really good, everybody enjoyed it. Accommodation was neat and clean for our guests. Do yourself a favour and visit Rivier Plaas, you won't be disappointed.

A really pretty and cozy wedding venue. They did a great job on the decor and the venue facilities were in really good condition. The food was ok, desserts amazing. Drink variety is somewhat limited with no hot drinks offered. If you're looking for a rustic, farm vibe this place is for you.

This is an amazing venue to have your wedding at. Thank you so much Wimpie for all the time and effort in making our big day beautiful, you truly exceeded our expectations and went above and beyond with setting everything up and being available to help with anything (Like arranging for hair scissors to cut my hair 10min before getting married). The venue has a wide variety of places to take the most beautiful photos. The catering was great and we would definitely recommend this venue for any function. Thank you Rivier Plaas, we couldn't have asked for a better venue!!
