Had a wonderful 3 nights at The Salt Rock Hotel. The Hotel is a bit tired but the views, staff and food are great. Room clean and tidy, comfortable bed with back out curtains. The grounds are wonderful and well maintained. Access to the beach and “granny's pool” just down the grass and through a gate.

The colonial old lady needs a serious make over.Staff very friendly and helpful but noisy on the bottom floor.Place is very clean.Dont stay on level one, outside patio is not user friendly. Noisy neighbors just walk past your open windows/ glassdoor and looks directly onto your bed, or just stands and shout up at their friends and family (no privacy). Breakfast is a 6/10, although the omelets where great.Terrible coffee, have to pay R40 for a decent cup of coffee.Swimming pool in a protected area behind the hotel.Nice bar and reception area.Very nice swimming beach with tidal pool, good for families.

We came to Salt Rock Hotel for lunch on the terrace, and it started off beautifully. The setting is stunning, with incredible views that really elevate the whole experience. The food itself was outstanding—full of flavor and clearly prepared with care. The curry, in particular, was absolutely exceptional and a real highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, what should have been a fantastic afternoon was completely overshadowed by the service. Our waiter, Regina, was rude and came across as quite condescending when we asked simple questions. She didn’t seem to listen, was abrupt in her responses, and even forgot parts of our order. Things went further downhill when we mentioned that the wine was off. Instead of handling it professionally, she called the duty manager, who told us they couldn’t open a new bottle without approval from higher management, as it was “not in her control.” This response felt dismissive and unnecessary for what should have been a straightforward issue. To top it off, when the bill arrived, it was simply slammed onto the table. Despite the poor service, I still left a tip, but there was no acknowledgment, no thank you, and not even a basic question about whether we had enjoyed our meal. Working in the service industry requires a certain level of attentiveness, politeness, and ease in dealing with customers—none of which we experienced here. It’s a real shame, because the food and location are excellent, but the service completely let the experience down. Sadly, this will probably be my last time coming here for lunch.

One of our favourite beachfront places for lunch. Gorgeous tropical setting with beautiful gardens and the nicest view from the deck overlooking the beach & shore line . Love the classic oldstyle hotel lobby. Restaurant serves great casual & more formal meals.
