What a great spot! Whilst the entrance off the main road needs upgrading and better signposting, this venue has so much on offer. Beautiful buildings, interesting shops (including an extraordinary bookshop), a lovely setting, and judging by the development going on, it looks like there is even more to come…

We went for a site visit. It's a bit run down. Room designs are architects ideas but not homely nor cozy. Ceilings in newer cottages are too high, and older cottages need neatening up. Also, the rooms need better natural dividers between them, like hedges for privacy. Feels a bit like a motel.

We have just spent the most wonderful weekend at The Old Mushroom Farm in Howick. Accomodation was fantastic. Breakfast and pizzas were delicious too. Thank you, what a wonderful place. We will be back!

We stayed at The Old Mushroom Farm on the weekend of the Midmar 2026 and we didn’t have a good experience. Firstly I messaged the Whatsapp number which is provided on the fridge of the unit asking if it was possible to have another fan brought to the room as it was extremely hot which I never received a reply apart from a automated “we will get back to you as soon as we get back to our desk” I guess they still haven’t returned to the desk Secondly when we opened up the tap to shower there was almost no water coming out and the shower head was broken as well so we couldn’t even try to adjust the water spray. I took a video and sent it to the same Whatsapp number which I then got a “Thanks for letting us know” It would have been nice to have someone actually come and take a look and fix the shower or atleast communicate effectively. I would not recommend the Mushroom Farm to anyone
