A great retreat for families and mountain hikers. Very quiet and hidden. Monks Cowl Camp, start point of hikes in the nature reserve, less than 20 min by car.

From the moment we arrived at Berghaven, we felt so welcomed and at home. The cottages have such majestic mountain views all around — Our cottage was spotless, comfortably furnished, and equipped with everything we needed. We loved how tranquil and private it felt and the natural beauty of it all. The hospitality stood out as much as the scenery. The hosts were warm, helpful, and attentive — always friendly, always ready to assist, which made our stay feel safe and cared for from start to finish. If you’re looking for a peaceful, beautiful getaway in the Drakensberg , Berghaven is truly a gem. We can’t wait to return and will be recommending it to everyone. Thank you, Berghaven — you’ve given us memories we’ll cherish forever 💖

I would highly recommend Berghaven. Serene surroundings, cozy cottages, pure bliss. Kat and James are the perfect hosts. My kids still ask about Kat until this day. What a great place! Well done, guys.

Reception by Kat and her husband James was awesome. The venue is absolutely beautiful and beyond peaceful. The room/unit that we stayed in was clean and totally self sufficient. A place to go to recharge. Thank you.
