We went for a self drive. Lovely little nature park with zebras, hartebeest, giraffes etc. - you can exit the vehicle at any time. Great if you don‘t have the time to go to the bigger Bontebok Reserve!

At first communication was friendly and kind. We wanted to book for the night and it was €138/2600R on booking. When we called to book directly via Kwetu they charged us 178€/3300R. Al of a sudden booking.com was also €178. When we arrived there was no power in the cottage, which they did not tell us beforehand, while actually they knew this already. No light, no microwave, no fridge, etc. Some of the food we brought we could throw away as the fridge did not work. We spent the whole night with a tiny emergency lamp. When we went to bed we found a lot of worms between the pillows in our bed. Absolutely disgusting. We had no choice but to stay as our daughter was already asleep. Next morning we went to reception and complained about not telling us about the lack of power and the worms an that we felt is was no value for such a high price at all. But all we heard is: we do apologize. No sincerity and no compensation. Can’t believe we payed 3300 rand / 178€ for this.

Kwetu Guest Farm is a truly magical place to unwind and get back to nature, and a highlight of our trip to South Africa thus far. Giraffes, kudu, eland, sable, wildebeest, springbok and exceptional bird life are all nestled in the stunning mountains just outside Swellendam. Watching giraffes while braaing is really something. And we loved the fact that you can walk around and truly be close with the animals, not just drive. We stayed in both an apartment and a cottage and highly recommend both (we saw just as many animals from the apartment, ironically enough!) But it was the kindness and support of the staff that will truly stay with us. I read some negative reviews by others and wonder if we really stayed in the same place?! Do not hesitate to book this gem - you will not be disappointed.

At the beginning, everything was excellent. The team was very friendly during the booking process and extremely helpful with all our questions. Communication was smooth, professional, and pleasant. Unfortunately, our experience changed when our travel plans had to be adjusted. We contacted the hotel in a friendly manner to ask whether we could either modify our booking or receive a credit voucher valid for two years, which we clearly explained was necessary for us, as we will not be returning to South Africa sooner. Instead of a flexible and solution-oriented approach, we were treated more like a case file. We were repeatedly told that only the owner could decide, and that this would only be possible on Mondays. After almost three weeks of waiting, we finally received a response — offering a voucher valid for only one year, despite our explicit request and explanation. This was very surprising and disappointing, especially considering how positive and accommodating the communication had been at the beginning. A more customer-oriented, flexible, and timely solution would have been appreciated. Overall, a real pity, because the initial experience was very good.
