Did the 13km and it was a nice challenging hike as soon as you get to the top of the mountains it's worth it 👌. Make sure you have enough refreshments. Lower body training is important for this hike . You'll see some animals. Marking : 8/10. There were some markings too far apart and the rest perfectly located

We did the 9 km hike. Not too scenic but was nice. Quite a climb. No water on the way, no rock pools. The whole trail was VERY clearly signposted and aligned easily with the names on the map so we could see exactly where we were. So much appreciated! A couple of baboons but other than that, we did not encounter any other animals. Sunday's, the place closes at 4pm, so make sure to leave really early if you're aiming to do the longer routes. Bernard kindly took our word for it that we will be back in time if we still do the 9km and we were!

We did the 18km hike. It was quite good. Well marked. The stairs are a bit scary as they seem loose but otherwise great hike

If you’re looking for a trail that will truly test you, Rustig Trail is not playing around. This was easily one of the toughest hikes I’ve done. At certain points it genuinely felt like I was rock climbing rather than hiking — steep, relentless inclines that make you question your life choices halfway through. There’s a stretch that just doesn’t seem to end… pure torture in the moment. But somehow, that’s also what makes it so rewarding. The second I finished, the exhaustion turned into that deep, satisfying kind of pride. The kind where you know you’ve pushed yourself properly. If you’ve done Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve, I’d say this is right up there in terms of challenge, maybe even tougher depending on your pace and route. Not for beginners, but if you’re chasing a real physical and mental challenge, this one delivers. Brutal during, incredible after.
