We recently booked a stay at Netherwood in Nottingham Road, primarily because of the Blueberry Cafe, which we’d heard had a fantastic kids’ play area and petting zoo. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. We arrived at around 15:30 after a long drive from Johannesburg, only to be told that we wouldn’t be able to order any meals as the kitchen was closing at 16:30 — only tea and cake were available. This was quite disappointing, especially with a hungry two-year-old who had just spent hours in the car and was looking forward to both food and playtime. Perhaps after booking, the host could send a simple email outlining the restaurant hours, as this would have helped us plan our arrival better. We did take a stroll around the café area, and it is undeniably beautiful. The setting is well maintained, the animals were lovely, and the butchery looked interesting. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into the property. The accommodation itself is clean, well-equipped, and perfectly suited for self-catering. Thoughtful touches like a well-stocked fireplace and electric blankets made it feel cozy and comfortable. However, we did feel quite isolated, as the accommodation is situated on the other side of the farm, away from the main activity area. It is also quite close to the highway, which made it noticeably noisy and took away from the peaceful farm experience we were expecting. After not being able to get a proper meal on arrival, we decided to head into town — and ultimately ended up spending the night elsewhere. Overall, while the setting is beautiful and the accommodation well-prepared, the experience fell short for us due to the lack of flexibility around food on arrival, and the noise from the nearby highway. It may be better suited for a wedding stay or short function visit, rather than a quiet, peaceful Midlands getaway.

We arrived(without a booking) on a Sunday afternoon. When we asked about the accomodation, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They took us to a beautiful and comfortable cottage looking out over a little dam. Although we were told the cottages were near the highway, it was very quiet(so much so that we actually overslept the next morning). We had a lovely breakfast before carrying on with our journey. I would recommend Netherwood Farm Accomodation!

My first visit was when there were renovation to move the restaurant to where it is now, you couldn't even notice the construction going on. Place is quiet and clean, the manager is friendly, the staff very welcoming and professional. See you again soon, my daughter misses Jasmine ❤

Lovely little getaway. We must've chosen the coldest weekend of the year to visit, but the cottage was well equipped for the chill. Electric blankets on all the beds. Felt the duvets could've been a bit thicker, but there were extra blankets. The check in instructions weren't very clear, so we ended up going to the café on sight and they were able to assist with check in procedure. But a lovely place with a dam right on your doorstep. We will visit again.
