From the very beginning, our experience with Moerat Events was nothing short of exceptional. The venue itself was absolutely breathtaking, but what truly made our wedding unforgettable was the incredible dedication and care shown by Areef Moerat and his team. Areef went above and beyond to ensure that every single detail was perfect. From the elegant décor and beautiful table settings to the stunning atmosphere of the venue, everything was executed with such precision and passion. It was clear that he genuinely cared about making our special day as magical as possible. Our ceremony took place on the lawn beneath the shade of beautiful trees, which already created a whimsical and romantic atmosphere. Areef and his team elevated it even further by setting up the most breathtaking altar and creating an aisle that looked like something straight out of a fairytale. From the moment our guests arrived, they were welcomed by friendly staff and cared for throughout the entire event. After the ceremony, guests were escorted to comfortable lounge seating beneath sparkling fairy lights where they enjoyed appetizers and refreshing drinks while we took our photos. The property itself offers many stunning spaces for photographs, making every moment feel special. Just when we thought the day could not get any better, we entered the reception area and were completely overwhelmed by the beauty before us. The ceiling was elegantly draped with chandeliers, the floral details were perfectly balanced, and the table settings were even more beautiful than we had imagined. It truly brought tears to our eyes. The food was absolutely delicious and served in abundance. Areef even thoughtfully arranged for us to take some food home after the celebration. What stood out the most was the genuine care shown to our families and guests, for example, the team frequently checked in with my gran to see if she needed tea or anything else. Those small gestures meant so much to us. Everyone always says that something will go wrong on your wedding day, but with Moerat Events everything ran seamlessly. The professionalism, attention to detail, and personal care we received made the entire experience stress-free and unforgettable. We first approached Moerats Events on the 12th of February for our son’s wedding, planned for the 7th of December. We initially dealt with Reza, and a month later Shaheed took over. Our first meeting was at their venue in Paarl, where my wife, my son, the bride-to-be and her parents all attended. We walked them through what we envisioned for the day, including the décor and overall atmosphere. My wife is extremely particular — or as I like to say, “she knows exactly what she wants” — and right away a WhatsApp group was created. From there, the planning truly began. We went through everything in detail: the layout, table settings, centerpieces, colour scheme, and the menu. Shaheed was always accommodating, and from the very start his experience and confidence really came through. Even though we were nervous, as this was our first time planning a wedding, he consistently reassured us that he would make the day special. And he did. The day itself wasn’t just a wedding — it was an experience. Everything flowed beautifully. The attention to detail was visible everywhere, and you could genuinely feel the care that went into every element. Our family and guests were blown away. A special word of praise goes to the staff on the day: they were professional, warm, attentive, and always one step ahead. Many of our guests commented on how friendly and efficient they were, which truly added to the overall experience. The food was another highlight. It was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and generously served. Several guests came back to us afterwards just to compliment the catering. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and clearly prepared with care — a perfect match for such a special occasion. Areef was instrumental in bringing the entire vision to life. His approach to the stage design was thoughtful, creative, and deeply in tune with what we wanted. He understood the brief immediately and translated it into something simple, elegant, and refined. On Saturday, 27 June 2026, the Athlone Centre for Hope and Healing hosted a beautiful Gala Evening at the picturesque, Drakenstein Private Recovery Centre. The evening was carefully curated by Moerat Events, a talented team of creatives. The delicious, wholesome food, from starter, through to mains and dessert, was perfectly prepared, and served with a smile. Thank you very much for also preparing vegan meals for our guests.
