About Teniqua Treetops

Teniqua Treetops is an eco-friendly lodge situated approx. 20km from Sedgefield, the location is remote and secluded, where an enchanting world of glamping awaits, amidst the breathtaking beauty of an indigenous forest at the heart of the beautiful Garden Route.

Teniqua Treetops offers a unique and unforgettable self-catering experience, the entire lodge is run on solar and all the water is a combination of harvested rain water and filtered river water. All 8 of the treetop suites are nestled within the magnificent indigenous Knysna Forest, each uniquely built from wood and canvas, privacy is guaranteed The suites are built in a gorge so access is from ground level and the front of the suite is on stilts ranging from two to six meters above ground, you will enjoy breath-taking views of the Karatara Gorge or the majestic Knysna Forest. In total Teniqua Treetops can accommodate 24 guests. Teniqua Treetops small wedding venue “Forest Hollow” can seat 30 guests as well as the reception area which is adjacent the fully licensed bush bar named “De Adder Padda”. We stayed at Teniqua Treetops in April 2026 and it was a lovely surprise – truly a hidden gem. The wooden cabin was comfortable and well-equipped, with everything needed in the kitchen. One of the highlights was relaxing in the large bathtub while enjoying the beautiful views. The deck was the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a braai while taking in the scenery. It’s an ideal destination for a peaceful getaway, whether as a couple or with friends. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would gladly return.

On the spur of the moment, we decided to escape for the weekend and headed to the absolutely beautiful Teniqua Treetops. We stayed in the most incredible treetop suite, with a jacuzzi, surrounded by nothing but nature, birdsong, and breathtaking forest views. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had stepped into another world. I honestly cannot speak highly enough of this hidden gem tucked away in the forest. The peace, the scenery, the unique accommodation, and the chance to completely switch off from everyday life made it such a special experience. If you’re looking for a place to reconnect with nature, unwind, and enjoy something truly magical, Teniqua Treetops should definitely be on your list.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary with a night at Teniqua Treetops, our first visit there. Wow, what an absolute GEM of a place! Exactly what we wanted. Eclectic style cabin/tent, amazing views, good birding, quiet, peaceful and all the amenities we needed. Well kitted out units and thoughtful touches made it a memorable trip and we will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Taniqua Tree Tops. Beautifully appointed units. The outside bath was such a treat. We loved that the Knysna Louries visited the trees outside the challet both morning and evening. Don't forget your binoculars of you visit..
