A gem. Comfy bed, lovely people and a great breakfast. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with lots of little touches that make it feel welcoming. Breakfast was tasty and a really good size, beautifully presented. Very often its the people that make a place special and this is no exception... warm, caring and friendly. We stayed in the Family Suite at De Kloof Heritage Estate and our experience was absolutely sensational! The cottage was beautifully furnished, spacious, and left nothing to be desired. A special thank you to Charlene, the housekeeper – she was an incredible host who anticipated our every need and made us feel truly welcome. The service was outstanding, and the breakfast was top-notch – fresh, beautifully presented, and full of thoughtful details. A truly exceptional stay. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Swellendam!

De Kloof Estate is a beautiful historic estate, steeped in character and heritage, centred around a magnificent Cape Dutch homestead. We had the pleasure of spending a night here after driving through from Graaff-Reinet en route to Birkenhead House. The team were exceptionally warm and charming, and the crisp white linen added to the sense of comfort and understated elegance. The overall experience is that of a gracious country guest residence—peaceful, welcoming, and perfectly suited to a short stay in Swellendam.

Booked a stay here very last minute and absolutely loved it. The Shiraz Suite is amazing! The staff are exceptionally friendly and couldn't do more for you. Breakfast included and it was delicious.
