Gaikou Lodge is situated in the most beautiful location - you have close up views of the mountain range that Swellendam lies beneath. The rooms are spacious and open, perfect for a couple on a romantic getaway. The room was spotless and the bath is to die for! If I had one complaint it would be the quality of the WIFI - I struggled to stay connected but the surroundings leave you in awe long enough for you to forget about your phone. Thank you for the comfortable stay!

I really enjoyed my stay at Gaikou Lodge, what a hidden gem in the beautiful town of Swellendam. The staff were genuinely friendly and made me feel right at home. A full-length mirror was surprisingly missing from such a large room, though. The mountain views, guinea fowl, and occasional baboon sightings all add a touch of character and charm to the place. Breakfast was OK, but I would really appreciate the option of plain yogurt to have with the muesli; some guests are diabetic and can't have that much sugar first thing in the morning. The rooms feel luxurious and spacious, and I liked the practical spaces for hanging clothes and storing luggage. Great accommodation overall.

I had the most wonderful time at Gaikou and will definitely be coming back. The receptionist was incredibly welcoming, the room was stunning and the views were unmatched. The property is located very close to town and some local restaurants even deliver to your room for free. The breakfast was divine, pool was clean and the walking trials unmatched. I will definitely be back!
