Although better known as a wedding and events venue, Utopia boasts a very well maintained campground that is really worth visiting or using as a base for exploring Swellendam and surrounds. The individual stands are nice and flat and mostly grass covered. Being somewhat shy of crowds, we really liked that individual stands are separated by hedgerows. This also makes for ample shade, and offers some protection against wind. Each campsite has a 220v electrical outlet. Water must be obtained from communal facilities, and it is recommended that you bring your own water for drinking. Bathroom facilities were more than adequate, was kept clean, and hot water definitely was not a problem. This is a great campsite for people wishing to escape from the hustle and bustle. Plenty of space for walks and games with the kids in the park like gardens, fishing in the lake, cycling, farm animals and visits to the nearby historical town of Swellendam will keep everybody entertained. Firewood and ice available from management. The lapa and roofed communal area provides shelter during inclement weather, and also makes this a perfect getaway for groups . We really enjoyed our weekend, and I can honestly recommend this well kept campground. Well done management!

We love camping and this is one of the best camp sites we have been to. Nice sized stands. Lots of tree cover and hedges between sites. The ablutions - especially the ones close to the lapa with the slightly open showers (water just draining through the floor and a view while you shower - are great! The farm animals are so great to see, the donkeys wake you up 😁. But to be serious, the facilities are everything you need. This place is beautiful, bliss, heaven. I want to go back.

SUCH a great, clean and beautiful camp site ... enclosed with tree cover and some site with full grass. Wheelie bins cleaned daily, river water with enough water points (do take your own drinking water). Wilna a friendly host and helpful. They sell wood and ice and brings to your site. Negative ... when the rules about dogs are only applicable to campers and not to the owners nor their family and friends. "Not their family or friends" camped with 2 malamute dogs. Only on a leash for a few hours after the female attacked and killed a lamb ... in front of young kids. I approached the owners, their answer were that they have to pay for the loss of the lamb and warning. Well ... that lasted about 8 hours and dogs were off leashes as well as the owners German Shepherd. Unless rules apply to ALL... be considerate about your own dogs and rather camp your site off with your own fencing.

I joined members of the 4x4 Offroad Adventure Club for our year end function. Awesome campsite! Immaculately maintained; lots of shade; the lapa was great for our braai. I'll most definitely be camping there again and easily recommend it!
