About Hluhluwe River Lodge

Commanding a fantastic view of False Bay (southern reach of Lake St Lucia) the main lodge incorporates a dining room, bar and a lounge area.

The reception leads out onto an expansive terrace and grassed courtyard with a 180 degree access to all of the facilities and a superb view of Lake St Lucia and the river floodplain.

What awesome service! The staff here are friendly and very helpful. Lesley and Skona were great front of house! Accomodation was clean and comfortable with everything you need. The bath was beautiful with a view too! Breakfast to dinner was carefully created and planned and mostly to order. Vegetarian and allergies are catered for. This accomodation has virgin bush supporting indigenous birdlife. We enjoyed our stay and can definitely recommend.

What a lovely stay! From the friendly gardener with a great smile, to the chef creating tasty dishes, to front of house Skona and Lesley, all staff are helpful, friendly and a star at making your visit memorable and enjoyable. Drinks on the deck with a view of St Lucia lake, or dinner by candle light, you can’t go wrong. If you love birding and want to see the nyla buck outside your accommodation, this is the place. Highly recommended.

Fantastic service! Absolute birding destination with Ockie as your very knowledgeable guide. No water or river view close by. Easy drive to Hluhluwe Mfolosi Park. I bit far, 90min drive to St Lucia

Fantastic and relaxing! Staff are amazing, food is amazing , relaxing views and went for a nice bush walk, saw red duiker, bushbuck , nyala and porcupine spoor.
