If joy had a postcode, it might just be at Zulu Nyala Game Reserve. From the moment we arrived, the place felt like a living nature documentary… except with better snacks and comfier beds. Speaking of which, the standard rooms were impressively spacious, spotless every day, and perfect for collapsing into after a day of adventure. Now, let’s talk about the real star of the show: our ranger, Zulu Bheki. If safaris had superheroes, Bheki would be wearing the cape. Warm, attentive, and endlessly knowledgeable, he didn’t just guide us, he adopted us into the wild. Every fact he shared somehow stuck in our brains like safari souvenirs, and his passion made every drive feel like a story unfolding in real time. We didn’t manage to spot the elusive hyena, but honestly, the chase was half the magic. There’s something unforgettable about racing through the bush with your heart doing drum solos, scanning the horizon like a detective in a nature thriller. It turned into one of those “you had to be there” moments that you’ll talk about for years. Back at camp, the gardens were lush and beautifully kept, with local crocodiles casually adding a bit of prehistoric flair. The reserve offers plenty of excursions, but the cultural village on-site is an absolute must. It adds a whole new layer to the experience and is well worth your time. Food-wise? Delicious. And the bar… let’s just say things got lively. The “liquid cocaine” shots definitely brought the party energy, and there’s a solid wine selection to keep things classy when needed. All in all, we had an incredible time and are already plotting a return trip, next time with our little ones in tow. Just a quick tip for future visitors: bring some cash for tipping the amazing staff who make the whole experience shine. An unforgettable adventure with a touch of wild magic. We’ll be back!

We had an amazing time! Musa our Ranger was the absolute best. He made our trip. He was patient and very accommodating. We got to see all the animals including a leopard at the very last minute just at dusk, which I guess you don’t always get to see the big cats. It was well worth the trip. So memorable with our friends

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Zulu Nyala. The staff was amazing. The safaris were spectacular. And the excursions were fantastic. We went deep sea fishing and we were able to have fresh fish prepared for dinner. I will definitely be back. We also met some wonderful new friends!

This place isn't the easiest to get to, but it's well worth the effort. The amenities are incredible and the staff and service exceed expectations at every turn. We had Musa as our Ranger, and he was incredibly professional and personable with seemingly unlimited knowledge. He clearly cares about the animals and takes great pride in his work. He really made the experience for us. I didn't have a chance to ride with any other rangers, so I can't speak to whether or not everybody could have as great of an experience as we did because of Musa. This reserve is smaller than most, but that's not a bad thing. The wildlife is plentiful and you spend more time with the animals as opposed to looking for them. They really do a great job with their anti-poaching efforts. We took a ride through the national park, which contains a lot more animals, but is so big, we hardly saw anything. We did see a large herd of elephants, which was great, but we spent our whole day looking. We also did the lion experience and only saw a single lion. It was great, but it doesn't have the offerings of Zulu Nayala. It is a much more intimate atmosphere on your game drive, and can't be beat. We also went as a couple, and we're paired up with (2) other groups, and we got along so well! They were awesome, and they also helped define our experience. I could imagine it might not be great if you get partnered with a difficult group. But we made new lifelong friends. Outside of our group, we weren't afforded many opportunities to meet the other guests, and that would be my only complaint. A "meet and greet" cocktail happy hour around a bonfire every couple days might make the groups mingle a little more. It got pretty sleepy in the evenings after dinner. Thank you all, at Zulu Nayala.
