I am currently walking from Durban to Cape Town to raise funds for my Harvard education and advocate for solutions to South Africa’s housing crisis. When Ian and Cleo heard about the cause, they welcomed me with open arms and generously provided accommodation because they believed in what I was doing. Ian and Cleo are truly heaven-sent. Their hospitality went far beyond providing a place to stay. Ian took me to the famous Sedgefield Market, where we shared great food, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He then showed me around the town and its beautiful beaches, sharing the rich history of the area and the deep love he has for the community. Through him, I experienced Sedgefield not as a tourist, but as a friend. Cleo gave me a completely different and equally valuable perspective. She took me into the local township and helped me better understand the challenges, culture, resilience, and spirit of the people who call the valley home. Those conversations were meaningful and left a lasting impression on me. The accommodation itself was fantastic, but what makes Pelican Lodge special is the people. Ian and Cleo embody the warmth, generosity, and community spirit that make South Africa so special. If you’re looking for more than just a place to stay, if you’re looking for genuine hospitality and hosts who truly care, Pelican Lodge is the place. I cannot recommend it highly enough. THANK YOU! This is my place, my home from home. Bernita went the extra mile by sending my shirts I forgot in the rooms. Very clean, upmarket rooms, service is excellent and professional. Highly recommended!!!

I love everything about this hotel! The staff is friendly and kind. From the moment i arrived its felt like home! The bedrooms are so clean, breakfast is really good. I would recommend this place to anyone visit George.
