POPIA statement

The Aisle POPIA baseline: what personal information is processed, why it is needed, and how users can ask for access, correction or deletion.

Last updated: 3 September 2026

The Information Regulator is the South African authority for POPIA and PAIA. This page is not legal advice and should be reviewed before public launch.

Responsible-party baseline

The Aisle processes personal information to operate a wedding venue marketplace in South Africa. The public launch version must include the responsible party name, registered details and privacy contact before production.

Categories of personal information

Personal information can include names, email addresses, phone numbers, profile details, venue claim details, company names, enquiry content, message content, quote details, booking records, saved venues and technical security logs.

Public venue data can include business contact details, addresses, photos, ratings and review counts where they are part of a public venue listing.

Purpose of processing

Processing is limited to marketplace operation: account access, venue discovery, venue claims, enquiries, messaging, quote generation, quote acceptance, booking records, security, support and data-quality correction.

Data minimisation

The product should ask only for the data needed for a venue decision. If a value is not needed for discovery, matching, enquiry, quote, booking or account security, it should not be collected.

Access, correction and deletion

Users may ask for access to their personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion where retention is no longer justified, or objection to processing where POPIA allows it.

Venue managers can correct claimed venue data in the dashboard. Couples can control what they send to venues and can remove saved venues from their own account.
